Abstract

Recently, polymers blended with ionic liquids have been considered as possible replacements for the volatile organic solvent liquid layer in dye-sensitized solar cells. The photochemical and electrochemical behavior of composites of poly(methyl methacrylate) with five different ionic liquids have been studied. UV-Vis spectroscopy and fluorometry analysis will be presented, exploring the photochemical behavior of the ionic liquids used in the composites with two model dyes to determine the efficiency of the dyes in the presence of the ionic liquids. AC impedance measurements will be presented, exploring the electrochemical behavior of the polymer composites including conductivity values and temperature-dependent conductivity plots.
